What are the components of Endpoint Protection?

Endpoint Protection comprises the following major components:

- The Web console.

- The antivirus unit

- The firewall unit.

- Device control.

- Protection for Exchange Server.

- Web access control.

- Protection for OS X computers.

The Web console

The Web console allows you to manage the protection of your computer network.

The antivirus unit

The antivirus unit is installed from the Web console and includes the following protection:

The firewall unit

The firewall unit monitors all Internet connections, blocking or allowing access depending on the rules configured. It provides detection and blocking of IDS intrusions and network virus attacks that Trojans use to spread. Administrators can configure the way the firewall protection is managed.

Central administration (from the Web console)

Administrators define the configuration they want to apply to computers. This configuration is established from the Web console.

Administration by the client (from the Endpoint Protection icon):

The end-user of the protection is responsible for configuring the firewall on their computer. To facilitate this task, there are a series of rules predefined by Panda which establish permissions for common applications.

The firewall rules can be created or modified from the options available in the firewall settings.

Device control

Popular devices like USB flash drives, CD/DVD readers, image devices, Bluetooth devices and modems can become an entry point for infections.

The device control settings allow you to configure the device control protection for the profile you are creating. Select the device or devices you want to authorize and assign a usage level to them.

Protection for Exchange Server

Email messages, either circulating within the internal network or received from external sources, may contain malware and spam.

The protection for Exchange Server neutralizes these messages, preventing infections and email overload due to spam traffic.

Web access control

This protection allows you to block access to specific websites by category, and configure a list of URLs to allow or deny access to. This feature allows you to optimize your network's bandwidth and increase your business productivity.

Protection for OS X computers

The licenses of Endpoint Protection for OS X are different from those for Windows and Linux computers.

Additionally, you can configure the protection for Mac computers separately from the options for other operating systems.
